Junior Achievement Appreciates LPSO Volunteers

Junior Achievement of Acadiana gratefully acknowledges the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office's generous support of economic education programs at Ernest Gallet Elementary School. Last year the departure of Ocean Energy employees greatly impacted the number of volunteers who supported the program at Gallet. Fortunately, when we called upon Donna Delahoussaye she responded by helping to recruit volunteers from the Sheriff's Office... Junior Achievement applauds the efforts of the staff at the Sheriff's Office for taking an active approach to forming a powerful partnership that enriches the educational experience for the students at Ernest Gallet and other schools in the parish.

Ridge Road Shooting Leaves One Injured

Monday, June 16, 2003

Lafayette Parish Sheriff Mike Neustrom advises that at approximately 1:32 PM Monday, Deputies responded to a disturbance between two males at a residence in the 400th block of Ridge Road. Upon arrival, Deputies determined that 40-year-old Kevin Culligan arrived at the above residence armed with a crowbar and was subsequently shot in the hand by 47-year-old Dana Legnon. Culligan was transported by ambulance to University Medical Center. Dana Legnon was arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center charged with Aggravated Battery by Shooting. Aggravated Assault charges against Culligan are pending.
