Deputy Honored as ACA Corrections Officer
Congratulations to Deputy Olugbenga Shomade, he is following the footsteps of his Work Release co-workers and supervisors and setting a trend in the process.

In May, Deputy Shomade passed the ACA Corrections Officer Exam. With this accomplishment, Shomade became the first driver to obtain this status and the fourth Work Release employee to receive ACA certification.

Lafayette Council on Aging Sends Thanks
On behalf of the Lafayette Council on Aging, we want to express our sincere appreciation to you for the excellent job you all did in providing fans for area senior citizens. We have received many requests from senior citizens in the community and have delivered most of the fans. Thank you so much for your generosity. We truly appreciate your kindness.
Sincerely, Clara L. Burke, Executive Director

WD Smith Center Community Project

Tuesday, September 2, 2003

This past summer, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office partnered with the Lafayette Parish School Board to improve the appearance of the WD Smith Career Center. Inmate workers, supervised by Lafayette Parish Sheriff Deputies, completed over 1700 man-hours pressure washing, scraping, painting, and assisting with various maintenance tasks during the 9-week contract period that ran from the beginning of June through the middle of August.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office works with several community groups throughout the year, providing inmate workers to assist with events such as the annual Foodnet Food for Families Food Drive, Lafayette Junior League's Tinsels and Treasures, the Lafayette Chamber/Lafayette School Board Net Day Project and Litter Abatement throughout the parish.
