Teacher Thanks LPSO for Supporting Education!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of education, teachers and students in Lafayette Parish. I was one of the 12 finalists in the recent Lafayette Education Foundation (LEF) Teacher Awards ceremony. Without your support, it is possible that these types of ceremonies would not happen, and that teachers would not get to realize that they have people rooting for them in the community. I feel so wonderful that I was a part of this, that so many people value education. The positive effects of being a small part of this will stay with me for so long. It has strengthened my resolve to do as much as possible for the students of Lafayette Parish. Once again, thank you for all that you do to support education.

Friday, May 23, 2003

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is assisting the St Martin Parish Sheriff's Office with the release of information about a home invasion with an assault that occurred Tuesday, July 9, 2002.

Contact person is Captain Audrey Thibodeaux of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-394-3071.

Almost eleven months ago on Tuesday, July 9, 2002, a 45 year old black female was the victim of a home invasion with assault in the northern part of Breaux Bridge. We are asking the public to assist us in identifying the suspect. (SEE SKETCH) He is described as follows:

Black Male; Age - Approximately late 20's-early 30's; 5'7 - 5'8; Heavy Set Muscular Build; Short Hair; Clean Shaven; Light to Medium Skin Complexion; Brown Eyes; At the scene he was wearing blue jean shorts and a white t-shirt.

At the time of the incident, the suspect was seen driving a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage, gold in color. The vehicle had a "Hampton Has It" license plate on the front bumper and had damage on the front hood between the head lights.

The St Martin Parish Sheriff's Office is alerting the public to be extremely leery of any person knocking at your door requesting assistance to find an individual or giving some other excuse to enter your home. The suspect in this incident was clean-cut and was an attractive looking light complexioned male.

Anyone having any information regarding the suspect or the suspect's vehicle is asked to call Major A. Butch Dupuis or Captain Audrey Thibodeaux at the St Martin Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-394-3071 or the Multi-Agency Homicide Task Force Tip Line at 1-866-389-3310.
