Motorcycle accident claims life

Sunday, February 22, 2004

On Sunday February 22, 2004 at approximately 5:30pm deputies with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office responded to an accident on Gourmet Road in Carencro. The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2001 Triumph Motorcycle driven by 35 year-old Wayne Meche was traveling south on Gourmet Road when it struck the rear of a black Mustang stopped to make a left turn. The impact of the collision threw the driver of the motorcycle into the opposite lane and an oncoming vehicle struck him. Due to the injuries he suffered Wayne Meche died prior to deputy's arrival. No other injuries were reported. Lafayette Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.
