2009 "Kiss a Cop" Event
LPSO as well as other local agencies participated in the annual "Kiss a Cop" event hosted by Faith House. The event is held every October during Domestic Violence Awareness month.

The staff and residents of Faith House host "Kiss a Cop" and invite law enforcement to have dinner with the children currently residing at Faith House.

The purpose of the event is to show children that law enforcement are the "good guys", since the only prior experience many of them have had with law enforcement involved their response to a domestic violence incident.

Junior Achievement Appreciates LPSO Volunteers
Dear Sheriff Neustrom,
Junior Achievement of Acadiana gratefully acknowledges the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office's generous support of economic education programs at Ernest Gallet Elementary School. Last year the departure of Ocean Energy employees greatly impacted the number of volunteers who supported the program at Gallet. Fortunately, when we called upon Donna Delahoussaye she responded by helping to recruit volunteers from the Sheriff's Office... Junior Achievement applauds the efforts of the staff at the Sheriff's Office for taking an active approach to forming a powerful partnership that enriches the educational experience for the students at Ernest Gallet and other schools in the parish.
Sincerely, Michele Boustany, Education Manager

Detectives make Forgery Arrest

Friday, May 27, 2005

On Friday May 27, 2005, Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Detectives arrested 51 year-old Lloyd Guiberteau Jr. of Lafayette on 2 counts of Felony Theft, 2 counts of Forgery and 1 count of Money Laundering.

The charges stem from a continuing investigation involving Guiberteau that began in November of 2004. An audit of Our Lady of Fatima's school records for the previous 4 years resulted in
Guiberteau's original arrest on November 10, 2004 for Felony Theft of over $72,000. As the investigation continued and auditors researched back to 1992--when Guiberteau was hired as Principal of the school--detectives uncovered over $118,000 of missing school inventory and over $75,000 in missing school funds which resulted in the additional charges for Guiberteau.

Lloyd Guiberteau is presently incarcerated in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Facility no bond has been set as of this release.
