Sheriff's Scholarship Available for Lafayette Parish Students

Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom and the Louisiana Sheriff’s Scholarship Program will award one $500 scholarship to a worthy Lafayette Parish student. This scholarship is provided with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriff’s Honorary Membership Program.

One scholarship of a maximum of $500 will be awarded to a graduating high school student from Lafayette Parish. The applicant must have a minimum A.C.T. score of 20 and a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0. Eligible students must attend the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, with a major field of study in Behavioral Sciences – Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology or Political Science. Applicants must be permanent residents of Louisiana and students must enroll as full-time undergraduate students.

There are no restrictions on the purposes for which the scholarship are spent. The scholarship is not a loan, and will be awarded as a gift to defray the rising cost of tuition and related expenses in higher education. Interested applicants may pick up applications at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office at 316 W. Main Street in Lafayette. Applications will also be available at Lafayette Parish High Schools. Completed applications must be submitted to the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office no later than 4:00 PM, March 29, 2002.
