Accident claims Life of Young Woman

On Sunday, December 17, 2006 at approximately 1:35pm, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office responded to East Broussard Road near Duhon Road in reference to suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, Sheriff's deputies interviewed witnesses who indicated that 21 year-old Joshua Arceneaux and his girlfriend, 21 year-old Erica Joubert were engaged in a verbal dispute as they were traveling in a vehicle on East Broussard road. While the vehicle was still moving, Ms. Joubert opened her door and attempted to exit the vehicle. She was caught underneath the vehicle and sustained injuries,from which she later died.

Joshua Arceneaux has been charged with Reckless Operation and Disobeying a stop sign. Sheriff's detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
