Press Releases

Deputy of the Quarter winners

Thursday, January 25, 2007

Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office honored outstanding Deputies at their quarterly awards ceremony. Deputies representing the Administrative, Enforcement and Corrections Divisions were recognized for outstanding service to the Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Lafayette Parish.

Enforcement:

Deputy Karry Falcon – Deputy Falcon serves in Patrol and was nominated for his actions while investigating a suspicious vehicle found abandoned in a field. Upon closer inspection of the area, Deputy Falcon discovered a pipe which was later determined to have been stolen by the driver of the vehicle. The driver was later questioned by detectives and admitted that he had burglarized several businesses. He also provided information that eventually resulted in the arrest of four other subjects in connection with other burglaries under investigation.

Administration:

Deputy Glenda Prejean – Deputy Prejean serves in the Civil & Tax Division and is described as a “dedicated and professional employee" who has proven to be “a valued asset to the Tax Department by her systematic approach to the bookkeeping and accounting tasks required by her position." This tax season, the Sheriff's Office will collect millions of dollars in taxes, and Deputy Prejean “stays on top" of all tasks involved. She has also created a filing system for documentation that has increased the efficiency and speed of the Tax Department. She “has been instrumental in the efforts to run the Tax Department as professionally as possible.
