2009 "Kiss a Cop" Event
LPSO as well as other local agencies participated in the annual "Kiss a Cop" event hosted by Faith House. The event is held every October during Domestic Violence Awareness month.

The staff and residents of Faith House host "Kiss a Cop" and invite law enforcement to have dinner with the children currently residing at Faith House.

The purpose of the event is to show children that law enforcement are the "good guys", since the only prior experience many of them have had with law enforcement involved their response to a domestic violence incident.

Lafayette Council on Aging Sends Thanks
On behalf of the Lafayette Council on Aging, we want to express our sincere appreciation to you for the excellent job you all did in providing fans for area senior citizens. We have received many requests from senior citizens in the community and have delivered most of the fans. Thank you so much for your generosity. We truly appreciate your kindness.
Sincerely, Clara L. Burke, Executive Director

LAPCORR Industries Reaches Out to the Community

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

LAPCORR Industries is holding true to its motto "Working for the community." On Tuesday, April 15, at 1:00pm the jail industries program under the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office will deliver pet beds made by inmate workers to Lafayette Animal Control located on Pont Des Mouton.

The beds were made from worn/unusable inmate uniforms. Parts of the inmate uniforms were salvaged and sewn together to create pet beds for animals under the care of animal control.

The beds are also part of the "go green" initiative as the old uniforms previously would have been discarded. Lt. Cynthia Canezaro, manager of LAPCORR Industries says, "Giving back to our community is what LAPCORR Industries is about. This has been a rewarding project for our employees and inmate workers."

The beds are available to local not for profit animal shelters. Requests for the beds can be made by calling LAPCORR Industries at 236-5856.
