Deputies Arrest One Male for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder

Friday, August 16, 2002

On Thursday, August 15, 2002 at approximately 10:30pm Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a disturbance call (man with a knife attacking a female on the side of the road) in the 6500 block of North University Ave in Lafayette Parish. When Deputies arrived they found a white male standing on the side of the road with a knife in his hand. He was quickly taken into custody. After investigating the incident, deputies learned that 22 year-old Christopher Vidrine stopped a female whom he had a previous acquaintance with on the side of the road. He began to hit her with his fists then produced a knife and tried to stab her, but witnesses intervened allowing the victim to flee in her vehicle. Christopher Vidrine(800 block of Church Street in Opelousas) has been charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault.
