Safe Visitation Center Opens

Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom announces another community partnership - the opening of the AVEC Les Enfants - Acadiana Visitation & Exchange Center at the Sheriff's Community Training Center. The center, under the direction of The Extra Mile, will provide a safe and child friendly environment for children to visit with their non-custodial parent(s) under the supervision of volunteer monitors, as well as supervise the exchange of children between parents for visitation purposes. Families using the center will be assigned by Family Court, the Office of Community Services, and the Office of Support Enforcement. This project was initiated by several community partners including The Extra Mile, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, the Lafayette Junior League, Family Court - Judge Keaty, the Office of Community Services, and Support Enforcement - Visitation and Access.
