Lt. Savant is a supervisor within the LPSO Patrol Divison.

School System Appreciates Inmate Worker Program
Dear Sheriff Neustrom:
The inmates along with Deputy Jon Fremin and Deputy John O'Neal have worked very hard at painting the Lafayette Parish Vermilion Conference Center. At the Conference Center we have 21 offices and 5 conference rooms, all of which were painted by the inmates and supervised by the Deputies. We would like to thank you for allowing these hard working inmates and Deputies to come here and do such a wonderful job for the Lafayette Parish School System. The supervisors and inmates were very courteous and thoughtful in all their work and actions. It really speaks highly of our Sheriff and everyone in his department. Thank you again for helping fulfill a need in our parish. Sincerely, Gary Meade, Staff Development Strategist & Burnell Lemoine, Deputy Superintendant and Chief Academic Officer Lafayette Parish School System

LPSO Deputies Honored

Thursday, January 16, 2003

Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom would like to congratulate the following outstanding Lafayette Parish Sheriff Deputies who are being honored as Deputy of the Quarter within their respective Divisions. Their actions exemplify the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office motto “Serving the community with courtesy, professionalism and respect.”

Administration – Deputy Danette Gary – Payroll Clerk
A 13-year LPSO veteran, Danette is solely responsible for administering the payroll for over 500 LPSO employees, along with all IRS and pension board filings. Her workload has increased during the last two years, and she has willingly accepted these additional responsibilities. She continues to perform her duties in a very professional manner and always has a kind word for everyone and a smile on her face.

Corrections – Deputy Peggy Price – Corrections Deputy
Deputy Price has been a LPSO Deputy for over one year and currently serves as a floor deputy in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. While walking through a LPCC pod recently, Deputy Price had to quickly and professionally react to a dangerous incident. Her heroic response saved the life of an inmate.

Enforcement - Detective Carrol Clavelle – CID-Crimes Against Property
Detective Clavelle, a 17 year LPSO Deputy, currently serves in the Crimes Against Property Section of the Criminal Investigative Division. In September of 2002, Detective Clavelle was assigned to investigate the burglaries of several mobile home dealerships located within close proximity of each other, but involving several different jurisdictions. During his investigation, Detective Clavelle discovered a burglary in progress at one of the dealerships and arrested the suspect who had committed a similar burglary approximately three weeks earlier. Detective Clavelle continued his investigation and arrested five more suspects. Detective Clavelle solved every one of the burglaries experienced by the dealerships for all jurisdictions involved and recovered almost 100 % of the items stolen. (Approximate value $9,000)
