Volunteer award
Congratulations to SRO Deputy Chris Batchelor, on receiving St. Basil Knights of Columbus Council #10721 "Volunteer of the Month Award".

Teacher Thanks LPSO for Supporting Education!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of education, teachers and students in Lafayette Parish. I was one of the 12 finalists in the recent Lafayette Education Foundation (LEF) Teacher Awards ceremony. Without your support, it is possible that these types of ceremonies would not happen, and that teachers would not get to realize that they have people rooting for them in the community. I feel so wonderful that I was a part of this, that so many people value education. The positive effects of being a small part of this will stay with me for so long. It has strengthened my resolve to do as much as possible for the students of Lafayette Parish. Once again, thank you for all that you do to support education.

LPSO Deputies Honored

Thursday, January 16, 2003

Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom would like to congratulate the following outstanding Lafayette Parish Sheriff Deputies who are being honored as Deputy of the Quarter within their respective Divisions. Their actions exemplify the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office motto “Serving the community with courtesy, professionalism and respect.”

Administration – Deputy Danette Gary – Payroll Clerk
A 13-year LPSO veteran, Danette is solely responsible for administering the payroll for over 500 LPSO employees, along with all IRS and pension board filings. Her workload has increased during the last two years, and she has willingly accepted these additional responsibilities. She continues to perform her duties in a very professional manner and always has a kind word for everyone and a smile on her face.

Corrections – Deputy Peggy Price – Corrections Deputy
Deputy Price has been a LPSO Deputy for over one year and currently serves as a floor deputy in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. While walking through a LPCC pod recently, Deputy Price had to quickly and professionally react to a dangerous incident. Her heroic response saved the life of an inmate.

Enforcement - Detective Carrol Clavelle – CID-Crimes Against Property
Detective Clavelle, a 17 year LPSO Deputy, currently serves in the Crimes Against Property Section of the Criminal Investigative Division. In September of 2002, Detective Clavelle was assigned to investigate the burglaries of several mobile home dealerships located within close proximity of each other, but involving several different jurisdictions. During his investigation, Detective Clavelle discovered a burglary in progress at one of the dealerships and arrested the suspect who had committed a similar burglary approximately three weeks earlier. Detective Clavelle continued his investigation and arrested five more suspects. Detective Clavelle solved every one of the burglaries experienced by the dealerships for all jurisdictions involved and recovered almost 100 % of the items stolen. (Approximate value $9,000)
