Food Net Board of Directors Appreciates LPSO Assis
Dear Mike, On behalf of the Board of Directors of Foodnet and the thousands of less-fortunate people who benefit from our food bank, I want to express our gratitude to you and the Department for the major role that you played in our annual Christmas Food Drive. The Twenty-Third annual KLFY-TV-10/Foodnet “Food for Families” food drive was a great success – one of our best. We finished with a total of seventy-four tons of food. Our success could not have been realized without your co-operation and the assistance of the Trustees. The courtesy and co-operation of my friend, Albert Glaude. Albert is always there with his calmness and re-assurance when just about everything is dependent on the assistance of the trustees. I am very grateful to all of you. Sincerely Marcelle F. Suspect arrested in France

Thursday, November 20, 2003

On Sunday morning November 16, 2003 French Police arrested Ben Meaux at his residence in Marcielle, France. He is wanted for the October 31, 2002 shooting of two employees at Don’s Sports and Imports Auto Dealership located at 2520 Ambassador Caffery. Shortly after the shooting Detectives with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office obtained two warrants for Ben Meaux, both for Attempted First Degree Murder. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office and the FBI discovered that Mr. Meaux had flown into Houston, Tx. the day before the shooting from France where he was living. It is believed he had fled back to France after the shooting. Sheriff’s Detectives began working with The State Department and Interpol to notify French Authorities of the warrants and to attempt to locate his whereabouts.
Ben Meaux is presently being held by French Authorities on the warrants issued by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office for Attempted First Degree Murder and Unlawful Flight to avoid Prosecution. Sheriff’s Office Detectives are currently working with The State Department and the French Government to extradite Ben Meaux back to Lafayette to face
charges.
