2009 "Kiss a Cop" Event
LPSO as well as other local agencies participated in the annual "Kiss a Cop" event hosted by Faith House. The event is held every October during Domestic Violence Awareness month.

The staff and residents of Faith House host "Kiss a Cop" and invite law enforcement to have dinner with the children currently residing at Faith House.

The purpose of the event is to show children that law enforcement are the "good guys", since the only prior experience many of them have had with law enforcement involved their response to a domestic violence incident.

Food Net Board of Directors Appreciates LPSO Assis
Dear Mike, On behalf of the Board of Directors of Foodnet and the thousands of less-fortunate people who benefit from our food bank, I want to express our gratitude to you and the Department for the major role that you played in our annual Christmas Food Drive. The Twenty-Third annual KLFY-TV-10/Foodnet “Food for Families” food drive was a great success – one of our best. We finished with a total of seventy-four tons of food. Our success could not have been realized without your co-operation and the assistance of the Trustees. The courtesy and co-operation of my friend, Albert Glaude. Albert is always there with his calmness and re-assurance when just about everything is dependent on the assistance of the trustees. I am very grateful to all of you. Sincerely Marcelle F. Man charged with Manslaughter

Tuesday, May 18, 2004

Tuesday, May 18, 2004

On Monday, May 17, 2004 Detectives with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 50 year-old Craig Morvant of 230 Jenkins Road in Scott, on one count of Manslaughter.

The arrest warrant was issued after an investigation began on Saturday, May 15, 2004. Sheriff's Office deputies responded to 230 Jenkins Road after a relative attempted to wake 37 year-old Angelle M. Nini and discovered she was not breathing. Witnesses indicated that the victim had been ill for sometime.

Sheriff's Office Detectives continued to investigate and on Monday, May 17, 2004 an autopsy revealed the cause of death to be internal blunt trauma. With this information and other evidence obtained, the husband of the victim, Craig Morvant, was arrested. He is being held at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a $250,000 Bond.
