2009 "Kiss a Cop" Event
LPSO as well as other local agencies participated in the annual "Kiss a Cop" event hosted by Faith House. The event is held every October during Domestic Violence Awareness month.

The staff and residents of Faith House host "Kiss a Cop" and invite law enforcement to have dinner with the children currently residing at Faith House.

The purpose of the event is to show children that law enforcement are the "good guys", since the only prior experience many of them have had with law enforcement involved their response to a domestic violence incident.

Food Net Board of Directors Appreciates LPSO Assis
Dear Mike, On behalf of the Board of Directors of Foodnet and the thousands of less-fortunate people who benefit from our food bank, I want to express our gratitude to you and the Department for the major role that you played in our annual Christmas Food Drive. The Twenty-Third annual KLFY-TV-10/Foodnet “Food for Families” food drive was a great success – one of our best. We finished with a total of seventy-four tons of food. Our success could not have been realized without your co-operation and the assistance of the Trustees. The courtesy and co-operation of my friend, Albert Glaude. Albert is always there with his calmness and re-assurance when just about everything is dependent on the assistance of the trustees. I am very grateful to all of you. Sincerely Marcelle F. Work Release Fundraiser

Friday, February 16, 2007

Hard work but for a good cause was the attitude several Work Release Program residents had when they organized and conducted a fundraiser for the Little Lambs Outreach program. In a joint effort with Brother Russell Roseberry of InnerFaith Prison Ministry, these residents sold a lunch meal consisting of a barbequed hamburger or hot dogs, bag of chips, and a drink for $5.00 each. Work Release participant Robert Green suggested the idea to InnerFaith staff and actually used his own personal funds to purchase the patties, hot dogs, drinks, and condiments. The remaining items needed for the fundraiser (buns and chips) were donated through InnerFaith volunteers. The Work Release Program resident population purchased the majority of the meals and Work Release Program staff purchased the remaining meals. A total of $214 was raised for the Little Lambs.

The goal of the Little Lambs Outreach program is to offer hope to the families and children of inmates housed in Louisiana prisons. The program provides counseling, food, gifts, school supplies and other items and services. The program's purpose is to help meet these families' needs, so their children can regain their self-worth and confidence. Statistics show that inmates' children are six times more likely to be incarcerated and that 70-percent will be in the criminal justice system at some point.
