Intensive Outpatient Program Licensed

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Treatment Programs announces a new treatment program for adults with substance abuse disorders. An Intensive Outpatient Program for recovering addicts is now licensed to service clients at the Community Corrections Center. This program is the only IOP operating out of a correctional facility in the state of Louisiana. The Day Reporting Intensive Outpatient Program (DRIOP) offers creative, complex, therapeutic services in an open setting.
DRIOP clients will receive a number of services including: Twelve step based recovery tools, goals formulation, life skills development, and individual counseling. Participation in the program requires a minimum of three month commitment. Clients will receive free follow-up services for a period of 12-months after completion of program requirements. The program groups run from Monday through Thursday with day (1:00 p.m. 2:30 p.m.) and evening (5:30 p.m. 7:00 p.m.) classes. Individual sessions will be scheduled weekly, or as needed, at the convenience of the client. Staff hours are Monday Thursday 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
According to a survey conducted by the Office of Justice Programs / Corrections Program Office, approximately 70-percent of all State prison inmates are in need of substance abuse treatment. Upon release, only one-third will receive needed treatment. The DRIOP is available to any person who has been incarcerated in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, or surrounding parishes, has a drug or alcohol problem, and asks to attend on a volunteer or court mandated basis. Cost for the program is a $40 registration and processing fee and $7 weekly for drug screens. These fees are included and not additional if the client is participating in the Day Reporting Program.
The DRIOP is the result of a two-year process that culminated with license approval by Department of Health and Hospital (DHH) on June 19, 2007. DRIOP has over forty years combined experience in their staff. The program will operate out of the Community Corrections Center, located at 100 Poydras Street in Lafayette.
