Food Net Board of Directors Appreciates LPSO Assis
Dear Mike, On behalf of the Board of Directors of Foodnet and the thousands of less-fortunate people who benefit from our food bank, I want to express our gratitude to you and the Department for the major role that you played in our annual Christmas Food Drive. The Twenty-Third annual KLFY-TV-10/Foodnet “Food for Families” food drive was a great success – one of our best. We finished with a total of seventy-four tons of food. Our success could not have been realized without your co-operation and the assistance of the Trustees. The courtesy and co-operation of my friend, Albert Glaude. Albert is always there with his calmness and re-assurance when just about everything is dependent on the assistance of the trustees. I am very grateful to all of you. Sincerely Marcelle F. Inmates Help Broussard Resident

Thursday, May 29, 2008

It will be a grand homecoming for Julia Babineaux when she is released from a local rehabilitation hospital. Ms. Babineaux is wheelchair bound and getting around her home which is not wheelchair accessible was causing some concern. But with the help of a Lafayette Parish Correctional Center inmate work crew, Ms. Babineaux will enter her front door with ease.

LPCC partnered with the Cajun Council on Aging to build Julia Babineaux a wheelchair ramp to her home. The Cajun Council on Aging worked with the Ms. Babineaux and her family to acquire the necessary materials and the inmate work crew provided the skill and labor.

LPCC work crews partner with a number of nonprofit agencies for the betterment of Lafayette Parish. The service projects provide the inmates an opportunity to give back to their community while instilling values and a sense of self-worth.

On Friday, May 30, at 10am, LPCC work crews will be completing the ramp at Julia Babineaux's home located at 102 N. Eola Rd. in Broussard. Ms. Babineaux's family as well as the Cajun Council on Aging will be available for interviews.
