Deputy Honored as ACA Corrections Officer
Congratulations to Deputy Olugbenga Shomade, he is following the footsteps of his Work Release co-workers and supervisors and setting a trend in the process.

In May, Deputy Shomade passed the ACA Corrections Officer Exam. With this accomplishment, Shomade became the first driver to obtain this status and the fourth Work Release employee to receive ACA certification.

Food Net Board of Directors Appreciates LPSO Assis
Dear Mike, On behalf of the Board of Directors of Foodnet and the thousands of less-fortunate people who benefit from our food bank, I want to express our gratitude to you and the Department for the major role that you played in our annual Christmas Food Drive. The Twenty-Third annual KLFY-TV-10/Foodnet “Food for Families” food drive was a great success – one of our best. We finished with a total of seventy-four tons of food. Our success could not have been realized without your co-operation and the assistance of the Trustees. The courtesy and co-operation of my friend, Albert Glaude. Albert is always there with his calmness and re-assurance when just about everything is dependent on the assistance of the trustees. I am very grateful to all of you. Sincerely Marcelle F. Inmate Art Featured in Art Walk

Thursday, December 11, 2008

Lafayette Parish Correctional Center Inmates express their emotions through art. The LPCC has recently implemented art therapy as one of their new groups for inmates. The Art Expression Group uses art as a therapeutic tool for mental health issues.

On Saturday, December 13, inmate art will be featured during the Acadiana Arts Council Art Walk event. For this event, creative works from inmates participating in the Art Expression Group will be on display. Also featured will be the participants and winners of the LPCC holiday art contest. Thirteen inmates entered original art work with a holiday theme. The art was judged by 85 LPSO employees and community members. First, second, and third place honors were awarded.
