Deputy Honored as ACA Corrections Officer
Congratulations to Deputy Olugbenga Shomade, he is following the footsteps of his Work Release co-workers and supervisors and setting a trend in the process.

In May, Deputy Shomade passed the ACA Corrections Officer Exam. With this accomplishment, Shomade became the first driver to obtain this status and the fourth Work Release employee to receive ACA certification.

Food Net Board of Directors Appreciates LPSO Assis
Dear Mike, On behalf of the Board of Directors of Foodnet and the thousands of less-fortunate people who benefit from our food bank, I want to express our gratitude to you and the Department for the major role that you played in our annual Christmas Food Drive. The Twenty-Third annual KLFY-TV-10/Foodnet “Food for Families” food drive was a great success – one of our best. We finished with a total of seventy-four tons of food. Our success could not have been realized without your co-operation and the assistance of the Trustees. The courtesy and co-operation of my friend, Albert Glaude. Albert is always there with his calmness and re-assurance when just about everything is dependent on the assistance of the trustees. I am very grateful to all of you. Sincerely Marcelle F. Sheriff awards Scholarships

Thursday, October 29, 2009

Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom is proud to announce the winners of the 2009 Louisiana Sheriff's Scholarship Program. They are Shai Corbello, Comeaux High School graduate, Christopher Vincent, Teurlings High School graduate, Megan Elaire, Northside High School graduate and Brandi Bergeron, Comeaux High School graduate.
Each year the Louisiana Sheriff's Honary Membership Program awards a $500 scholarship to a qualified graduating high school senior. There are no restrictions on the purposes for which the scholarship funds are spent. The scholarship is not a loan, and will be awarded as a gift to defray the rising cost of tuition and related expenses in higher education. The only limitations are that applicants be permanent residents of Louisiana; scholarships be utilized in higher education within the State; and students be enrolled as full-time, undergraduate students.
This year Sheriff Neustrom has personally added three additional scholarships of $500 each bringing the number of Scholarships awarded to four.
