Deputy of the Quarter
3rd Quarter 2008 "Administration" honoree.

Deputy Caddie is assigned to the Office of Outside Employment and has been nominated for her actions during Hurricane Gustav. When it became apparent that Gustav would affect Lafayette, the owners of two pharmacies (both of which have been robbed in the past) contacted Major Frusha to voice concerns over the welfare of their establishments and to request the presence of deputies during the storm. Despite the short notice, Deputy Caddie was able to schedule round-the-clock security for both businesses and maintain regular contact with the owners to assure them their properties were safe. Through her efforts, Deputy Caddie “represented the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office in an exemplary fashion.”

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office is obligated to manage the release of information to the media and the public in order to protect the rights (including legitimate safety and privacy issues) of victims, suspects, public safety officials and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office and its Deputies. It is the policy of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office to cooperate fully and impartially with authorized news media representatives in their efforts to gather factual public information pertaining to Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office activities, as long as these efforts do not violate the law, infringe upon individual rights, or unduly interfere with the office's operation.
