2009 "Kiss a Cop" Event
LPSO as well as other local agencies participated in the annual "Kiss a Cop" event hosted by Faith House. The event is held every October during Domestic Violence Awareness month.

The staff and residents of Faith House host "Kiss a Cop" and invite law enforcement to have dinner with the children currently residing at Faith House.

The purpose of the event is to show children that law enforcement are the "good guys", since the only prior experience many of them have had with law enforcement involved their response to a domestic violence incident.

Corrections

The mission of the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center is to enhance its contribution to the protection of society by safely housing and reintegrating offenders as law-abiding citizens through the use of institutional structure and appropriate programming.

LPCC processes approximately 12,000 arestees each year, providing the city and other local municipalities with booking, identification and inmate housing services. LPCC's rated bed capacity is 814. The average number of inmates housed in LPCC during 2005 was 770.

LPCC is a small city within Lafayette Parish. The facility houses a full service kitchen, laundry facilities, GED services, job-seeking education, counseling services, religious services, recreation, social visiting, commissary, library, and mail distribution. LPCC also facilitates several work crews that provide services within the community.

Due to the constant operation of LPCC, staffing and maintenance are important components leading to its proper management.
