Sheriff's Message
I wanted to share a personal experience I had recently, which made me reflect on how important a job we all have in taking care of the citizens of Lafayette Parish. My wallet and cell phone were stolen out of a locker in a local health club. I had left my locker unlocked, as I had for the past 15 years. This time I wasn't so lucky. With the able assistance of our CID and Intel Unit, we were able to catch the responsible person. I was impressed with our agency's efficiency in tracking down the culprit. Granted, my case was a small one compared to our citizens who are victimized by more serious offenses. 
The effort made by our agency in making people's lives better is what my message is – and that we have all taken on the responsibility and challenge to accomplish this in a way that is lawful and fair-minded. We deal with people on a daily basis who have some crisis in their lives:they may have been victimized by crime; they may be in jail; they may have to go before a judge in whose hands their freedom rests; or they may have a child in trouble. We are called on to handle these situations professionally and calmly. I applaud all of the hard work and sacrifice that each employee of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office provides.
