K-9 Competition Results

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office K-9 Division recently competed in the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office 3rd annual K-9 seminar, certification and competition in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom is proud to announce that among the 31 K-9 teams competing, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office K-9 team of Deputy Jack Bourgeois and K-9 Rico were the only team to place in all four events and were awarded “Top Dog.” The team placed 1st in obedience and agility, and also placed in narcotics and criminal apprehension. Also placing in competition were Sgt Barry Baldwin and K-9 Marco - obedience and agility, Deputy Bart Doucet and K-9 Rudy – obedience and agility as well as criminal apprehension. The certification and competition consisted of a narcotics phase (searches in vehicles and buildings) along with a patrol phase (obedience, agility, criminal apprehension and building searches with gun fire). Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office are proud to have one of the top K-9 Divisions in the area. Congratulations guys!
