Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Lafayette Parish Sheriff Mike Neustrom and more than thirty Sheriff’s Office employees participated in the Annual Lafayette NAMI Walk. This year’s LPSO team called themselves the Peace Walkers. NAMI which stands for National Alliance on Mental Health held its local fundraising walk at River Ranch on Saturday, October 1. From its inception in 1979, NAMI has been dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness.
For three decades, NAMI has established itself as the leading grassroots mental health advocacy organization in the country. NAMI’s strength is the dedication of its grassroots leaders and members. The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and the employees who participated in the walk are proud to support NAMI and the effort its local chapter plays in educating the community about mental illness as well as its training and advocacy efforts.
