April Challenge Coin Award Winner Announced

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is proudly announces that Katina Morris, a deputy in the Transitional Work Program, is this month's winner of the Challenge Coin Award. The award recognizes Corrections employees who through their work ethic and actions personify the attributes of leadership, creativity, honor and innovation.
The award is unique in that every new winner is selected by the current winner, making it truly a peer-to-peer award. Challenge Coin recipients exemplify all that Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Employees strive to uphold: “To serve the community with courtesy, professionalism, and respect.”
Katina has been a Corrections Deputy with the Sheriff’s office for more than 8 years, currenly she serves as a Security Deputy in the Transitional Work Housing Facility. katina was nominated by Deputy Marie Andrus. In her nomination letter Deputy Andrus wrote, “Katina is a very loyal co-worker, she is always thinking about others before thinking of herself. There were many days when Katina would come to work sick because she didn’t want me to have to work alone.” The challenge coin award process now stipulates that Katina identify and nominate the next award winner.
