LPSO Canine Unit leads annual Krewe Des Chiens (Dog) parade

Monday, February 4, 2013

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Canine Unit proudly lead the annual Krewe Des Chiens Parade on Saturday February 2, 2013 in downtown Lafayette.  Much like the tradition of police and sheriff's car at the beginning of every other parade the Sheriff's Office leads the annual dog parade.  Not with cars and wailing sirens but each Canine Handler escorting their partners up the parade followed by the many costumed canine revelers.  This year's parade included  Sergeant Jill Birkenmeir and her partner Hunter, Deputy Neil St Cyr and his partner Max, and Deputy Randle Broussard with his partner Twister.

A great opportunity for the community to see these working dogs of justice in a safe and friendly setting, we at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office enjoy working in the community for the people.

Our Canine Unit wishes a Happy and Safe Mardi Gras to all!!!!
