LPSO Appoints New Director of Human Resources

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office announces the appointment of Captain Jules Broussard (pictured here) as the new LPSO Director of Human Resources. Captain Broussard began his law enforcement career with LPSO in 1989 as a Corrections Deputy. In his 23 years of service with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Captain Broussard has held several supervisory positions. Prior to his new appointment Captain Broussard served on the Enforcement Command Staff overseeing the Enforcement Divisions’ Community Services Unit.  The Internal Affairs Unit which had been reporting to Captain Broussard will be moving to the Human Resources Department and will remain under his supervision. Captain Broussard is a graduate of UL.   

 

Lt. Jack Lightfoot, Chief Intelligence Officer, has been promoted to Captain and will replace Captain Broussard as head of the Community Services Unit. The Intelligence Unit will continue to report to Captain Lightfoot.  He is also a graduate of UL with a degree in Criminal Justice and has completed a variety of training in Criminal Investigations, Criminal Intelligence and Anti-terrorism. Captain Lightfoot has 21 years of law enforcement experience.      

 

In a letter making the announcement, Sheriff Mike Neustrom also asked his staff to join him in commending Human Resources Director, Michael Patin, who retired at the end of January, on a job well done. Mr. Patin had been with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office for eight years and had served as Human Resources Director for the past five. In the announcement Sheriff Neustrom stated, “I appreciate all of Michael Patin’s dedication and hard work serving in this very important and vital part of our agency and wish him the very best in his well deserved retirement.”
