New Video Visitation System No Charge First Day Remote Access

Tuesday, June 21, 2016

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office’s new Telmate video visitation system will go into operation on Monday June 24th. The new system will allow correctional center offenders and their friends and family to keep more in touch, through expanded visitation times and the ability to visit from virtually any computer with internet access and a webcam.

Currently, visitation is limited to onsite Visitation Center times which are from 8:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. New remote video visitation will now extend visitation to 10:00 p.m. on any day of the week.  Unlike the old video visitation system which worked off a rigid internal schedule because of its  point-to-point design, the new Telmate system allows friends and family the ability to choose the video visitation times that are most convenient for them. This will allow for more personal connections on family event days such as birthdays, anniversaries, public holidays, and religious holidays.

To introduce the remote home visitation capabilities of the system, Telmate will make the system available free of charge on Monday. After Monday the system will allow offenders to have two free onsite 30 minute video visits per week. Additional visitation time can be purchased at a minimal charge of 25 cents per minute for onsite usage and 50 cents per minute for remote access.

Learn more about it by going to The new online visitation system, as well as the current visitation center is tentatively scheduled to open on Monday, June 24th.  The Visitation Center is located on the LPSO Community Corrections Campus located at 100 Poydras Street, Lafayette, La 70506. The Correctional Center offender video visitation system is currently closed while we install our new system.
