Police Academy Graduation Set

Tonight at 6:00 PM 43 police cadets representing 11 police agencies will graduate from the 142nd Acadiana Law Enforcement Training Academy (ALETA).  This is the culmination of 11 weeks of intense law enforcement training in police techniques, state and federal law, firearms proficiency and other mandated police training.  These 43 men and women have all met the standards required by the Louisiana Police Officers Standardized Training (POST) and become certified police officers today.  The agencies who have cadets graduating today are the Lafayette and Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Offices, Kaplan, Crowley, Jena, Lafayette, University of Louisiana at Lafayette and  Scott Police Departments, Louisiana Department of Juvenile Services, LSU @ Alexandria Police Department and the Opelousas City Marshal’s Office.

The graduation is being held at Wharton Hall on ULL campus 411 E St Mary Street, Lafayette, LA  and media and the public are invited to attend.
