Lt.Tony Ashy Promoted to Patrol Commander

Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom announces Lieutenant Anthony Ashy has been selected for promotion to Captain and assignment as Patrol Commander effective Monday, June 9, 2014. 

Anthony (Tony) Ashy has served the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Lafayette Parish since his fulltime employment on August 10, 1987. He is a 1988 graduate of the Acadiana Law Enforcement Training Academy. During his 27 year tenure, Tony has served in a supervisory capacity in the Enforcement Division for the past 18 years; having been promoted to Sergeant in April 1996 and Lieutenant in July 2000. Lieutenant Ashy is a 2011 graduate of the Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois) Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command program. At the rank of Lieutenant, he has served as a Patrol Watch Commander, Patrol Support Services Commander and Community Services Unit Supervisor. 

Additionally, Lt. Ashy has served as an SRT Tactical Operator and as a Public Safety Rescue Diver and continues to serve as an SRT Negotiator, Motorcycle Squad member, Water Patrol member and LA Sheriff’s Task Force member. 

He has been recognized as the 1991 LPSO DEPUTY OF THE YEAR (Life Saving Award), a 1996 Jaycees of Acadiana Community Service Award recipient, and the 2006 Lafayette Advisory Commission on Crime Prevention DEPUTY OF THE YEAR, as well as many other service related commendations.
