Public is Invited to Offer Comments at Accreditation Meeting
Wednesday, April 8, 2015
The fourth re-accreditation of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) will take place April 12 – 15, 2015 by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., (CALEA). CALEA sets forth professional standards and LPSO voluntarily participates as part of its commitment to provide excellent service in law enforcement. The four basic areas that will be assessed are: Policy and Procedure, Administration, Law Enforcement Operations, and Support Services.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling (337) 236-3947 on Monday April 13, 2015 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The Assessment Team will be taking comments on an unrecorded line.
An additional opportunity to offer comments will be at the public information session held on Tuesday April 14, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Complex located at 1825 West Willow Street. Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session, are limited to ten minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. Copies of the standards are available for review at LPSO. For additional information, you may contact the Accreditation Office at (337) 236-5864.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about LPSO’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them directly to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, Virginia 20155.
