I would like to mention to you how one of your officers, Mike Thomas, assisted me recently at a moment of life or death. Mike has become my hero forever... On Tuesday, October 23, 2001, my wife and I were at the Lafayette Regional Airport, returning from Denver, Colorado. I suffered a cardiac arrest while waiting for luggage. Deputy Thomas rushed from the upper floor and came to my aid on the ground floor. He performed CPR and within minutes I was revived. I really appreciated his generous act of courage and quick thinking. It made all the difference in keeping me alive and I will always be grateful to my hero, Mike Thomas. We thank you, Sheriff Neustrom, for having persons in your department of this caliber and training. We wish you much success in the years to come.

Thank you for helping me return to my home Wednesday, June 6, 2001. (Tropical Storm Allison) The weather conditions prevented me from getting to my home, my grandmother was alone at the time. The officers were excellent in helping me as well as other stranded people along the way home. Thank you for the response and getting me home safe. God Bless You All!

I wish to acknowledge your office for their outstanding support and professionalism in the recent visit of President George W. Bush to Lafayette, LA. It was only through your office's hard work and proficient effort that this event was a success. This event serves as an excellent example of inter-agency cooperation that I hope will continue into the future.
