LPSO Inmate Industries Adds Air Filters Product Line
Friday, July 31, 2015
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office’s LAPCORR Industries announces the addition of HVAC air filters to its growing product line. The filters are made by offenders working at LAPCORR Industries located at the LPSO Public Safety Complex. Local manufacturing makes it possible not only to create on demand a wide variety of standard sizes, but also provide customers with custom filter sizes. LAPCORR manufactures and sells a variety of products, including regular and biodegradable trash can liners, corrugated boxes and institutional vinyl-covered bedding. Bedding products include mattresses and pillows for use in institutional settings such as jails, prisons or other facilities where a need for durability is balanced with the need for safety and security.
“Like many of the other products in our catalog, the manufacturing of air filters started as a way of providing a cost saving solution for our own filter needs. Institutions such as government agencies, schools and other public agencies and organizations that are responsible for maintaining a variety of buildings have a huge need for air filters. We hope to help them by providing a quality product in any size they need at a lower cost.” said Captain Colby Barbier LPSO spokesman.
More importantly than providing quality low cost products, LAPCORR also provides a valuable job experience to many Lafayette Parish Correctional Center offenders. This industry simulates a “real-world” work environment where offenders build skills useful upon re-entry into society. LAPCORR Industries is located on the grounds of the LPSO Public Safety Complex on Willow Street.
