National Corrections Publication Honors LPSO Captain

Wednesday, January 20, 2016

Congratulations to LPSO Captain Armen Alexandrian, LPSO Transitional Work Program and Transitional Housing Facility Manager, for being selected one of the American Jail Association Magazine’s “35 under 35”. The magazine recognizes the nation’s young, accomplished, and influential public safety professionals from across the country.

The Transitional Work Program provides opportunities for soon-to-be-released offenders to find employment. While in the program, these offenders work and pay for their own room and board and provide financial support to their families. Program participants pay for their own room and board as well as the cost of transportation to the work site. Since the inception of the program, Captain Alexandrian has been instrumental in growing the program into what it is today. He and his staff were key in making a successful move from its former location to its new home at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Safety Complex.  Captain Alexandrian has also helped craft and implement many of the programs current policies and procedures.  The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Transitional Work Program has been recognized for its successful and innovative programing both across the state and nationally.

In Armen’s 14 years with the Sheriff’s Office, he has held a number of leadership positions both in the Transitional Work Program and in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.  He is a Certified Corrections Manager and a graduate of the National Jail Leadership Command Academy.
