Wednesday, May 19, 2004

Sheriff Michael W. Neustrom and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office are proud to announce a partnership with the Acadiana Arts Council, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and the Lafayette Consolidated Government in providing continuing education for participants in the Sheriff's Office Day Reporting Program. (Day Reporting is a court-ordered program in which individuals are allowed to remain in society as long as they continue to be closely monitored.)

“Back Beat" is a new program available to Day Reporting participants (and their families) which will allow them to learn the art of Percussion Music. Through a grant from the Acadiana Arts Council and Lafayette Consolidated Government, drums and two instructors from UL at Lafayette will be provided. The first session of classes will begin on May 19, 2004 and will conclude on June 10th with a performance.
