Inmate taken to Hospital for Medical Condition

On Monday October 4, 2004 at approximately 12:45pm Acadian Ambulance transported a 33 year-old African American inmate, last known address Baton Rouge, La., from the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center to Lourdes Hospital for medical treatment. The inmate was booked into the Correctional Center by the Lafayette City Police at approximately 7:40am that same morning, on charges of Disturbing the Peace by Intoxication, Resisting an Officer, and Misrepresentation during Booking. Shortly after being booked, the Correctional Center Medical Staff noticed the inmate's condition needed further observation. He was placed in medical observation status where he fell into distress, medical aid was administered and Acadian Ambulance was called. Due to an unknown medical condition the inmate expired at Lourdes Hospital a short time later. The inmates name is presently being withheld due to notification of next of kin.
