Stolen Items Recovered

Friday, October 20, 2006

On October 15, 2006 Detectives with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office recovered jewelry, checks and guns from a stolen vehicle being used by Barak Landry and James Wilson--inmates who had escaped from the St. Mary Parish Jail earlier that day.

When Sheriff's Deputies stopped and apprehended Landry, they discovered a large amount of jewelry, checks and guns in the stolen vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the jewelry and checks were taken from a residence in the 300 Block of Brentwood Blvd. in Lafayette. The resident of the home was not present when the suspects forced entry through a rear door. All three confiscated weapons (rifle, shotgun, and pistol) were taken from a residence in Vermillion Parish. All items have now been returned to their owners and the two suspects have been booked with additional charges of Burglary and Forgery for their crimes committed in Lafayette Parish.
