IOP to Celebrate First Anniversary

Thursday, May 22, 2008

It all started in June 2007 when the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Intensive Outpatient Program was licensed by the state. Since then the IOP has graduated 39 clients from the program. With only three re-incarcerated, the program boasts a 92% success rate. And these accomplishments will continue to grow as an additional 11 more clients are expected to complete the program in July.

The IOP offers creative, complex, and therapeutic services in an open setting. Clients receive twelve step based recovery tools, goals formulation, life skills development, and individual counseling. Participation in the program requires a minimum of three month commitment, and clients receive free follow-up services for a period of 12-months after completion of program requirements.

The IOP is available to any person who has been incarcerated in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, or surrounding parishes, has a drug or alcohol problem, and asks to attend on a volunteer or court mandated basis. Cost for the program is a $40 registration and processing fee and $7 weekly for drug screens.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office IOP is the only intensive outpatient program operating out of a correctional center in the state of Louisiana.
