Sunday, March 14, 2010

On Monday, April 12, The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office will hold an open public forum to address public concerns and solicit public comment associated with the development of the new public Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Safety Complex to be located on a 29 acre plot of land on W. Willow Street at N. pat St. in Lafayette. The public forum will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will be held at the Lafayette Parish Sherriff’s Training Center, Auditorium. The Training Center is located at 111 S. St Antonie St. in Lafayette.

Even though construction is still over a year away, development of the site master plan has begun. The new state of the art complex will initially house service buildings including, a new central laundry facility and warehouse among other buildings. Over time the complex will also include a new Work Release Center and additional minimum-custody secure housing.

This meeting will be an opportunity for Lafayette Parish citizens to address members of the master planning team. The complex is part of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office goal to provide the highest quality and most cost effective public safety services to the growing population of Lafayette Parish. For more on information about the public forum contact Captain Colby Barbier, Project Manager at 337-232-2993 during regular business hours.
