Thirteen to Graduate from LPSO Offender GED Program

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, will honor 39 graduate offenders from various jail diversion program including thirteen which will receive High School Equivalency degrees. Graduation ceremonies will take place Thursday, May 27 at 6:00 p.m.at the Community Corrections Campus located at 100 Poydras Street in Lafayette.
In addition to the GED graduates others will also be honored, including graduates of the Day Reporting Program and GPS Offender Tracking Program. One graduate will receive a special recognition for his accomplishment in literacy.
The LPSO office is a state leader in providing offenders with diversion programs geared at teaching them the social and educational skills needed to become contributing members of the community. Diversion Programs are proven to reduce recidivism as well as reduce the cost of incarceration and public safety.
