Lt. Tony Ashy Graduates from School of Police Staff and Command

Sheriff Mike Neustrom is pleased to announce the recent graduation of Lieutenant Tony Ashy from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University, a ten (10) week program held in Baton Rouge, LA from May 9-July 15, 2011.

This program provides upper-level college instruction in a total of twenty-two core or mandatory blocks of instruction during each session which include Management/Management Theory, Organizational Behavior, Human Resources for Law Enforcement, Budgeting, Staffing Allocation and Personnel Deployment. Lt. Ashy has earned 8 units of undergraduate credit from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois by sucessfully completing this course.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office anticipates a variety of benefits from Lieutenant Ashy’s attendance at this program, as many of the graduates do go on to achieve a variety of leadership positions within their respective agencies. Currently over 750 graduates hold the title of Chief of Police and 39 of the 50 Directors of State Police agencies are graduates of this program.

For the past 11 years, Lieutenant Ashy has served the Sheriff’s Office as a Watch Commander in the Uniformed Patrol Division. His prior service includes Corrections Deputy, Patrol Deputy, and Patrol Shift Sergeant. Lieutenant Ashy has served the citizens of Lafayette Parish since 1987 and has received numerous civic and departmental level awards and recognition for outstanding service to the community.
