LPSO Community Corrections Holds Graduation

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office announces that thus far in 2011, a total of 46 offenders and other LPSO GED Program participants have successfully completed their degrees though the Sheriff’s Office GED Program. Some of the graduates, along with some of the more than 100 offenders who recently completed a jail diversion program, were honored at a graduation celebration held Wednesday, September 14, at the LPSO Training Center.
In addition to the GED graduates, others honored including those who successfully completed the Day Reporting Program, REHAB, GPS Offender Tracking Program, Work Release, Reentry and Day Reporting Intensive Outpatient Program.
The LPSO is a state leader in providing offenders with cost effective diversion programs geared at teaching them the social and educational skills needed to become contributing members of our community. LPSO Diversion Programs are proven to reduce recidivism as well as reduce the cost of incarceration and public safety for the tax payers of Lafayette Parish.
