Body found in burnt car

At 511 AM on Saturday October 8, Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Deputies were alerted to a vehicle fire in a rural part of the Lafayette Parish by the Fire Department. In the trunk of the vehicle fire fighters and deputies discovered a deceased person, and a homicide investigation is now under way. There is no further information at this time but updates are expected as detectives continue their investigation.

UPDATE: Saturday 10-8-11 9:30 AM

On October 8, 2011 at approximately 5:11am the Lafayette Sheriff's Office responded to the 100 Block of Felix Road in reference to a vehicle which was on fire. Upon arrival deputies along with the Fire Dept. discovered a 1999 Chevrolet 4 Door vehicle heavily damaged by fire. Upon opening the trunk deputies discovered a body which was also heavily damaged by fire.
The incident is being investigated as a homicide and the victim has not yet been positively identified.

UPDATE: 10-9-2011 1000 AM

Investigators from the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, Coroners Office and Arson Section of the Lafayette Fire Department are continuing the investigation into the body of a man who was found dead in the trunk of a car in the 100 block of Felix Road in Lafayette Parish Saturday morning. The identity of the man remains unknown and will likely require DNA testing, an autopsy is pending and investigators are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 232-8477 (TIPS) or the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office at 232-9211.
