Leadership and Residency Program Students Distribute Gifts

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

During the recent holidays, area students who participate in the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Leadership and Residency Program volunteered along with staff to help Acts of Love, a local nonprofit organization distribute holiday gifts and toys.

The LPSO Leadership and Resiliency program works with kids in local middle schools and high schools. LRP program leaders meet with students in the program weekly in an effort to help them deal with life issues by believing in themselves through positive thinking.

Participating students go on field trips and community service projects such as this one. Additionally, the LPSO hosts a Summer Camp each year that provides meaningful and fun activities to hundreds of area youth, kids who would otherwise have little fun or productive things to over the summer.
