LPSO to Provide Attorneys Desk Top Video Visitation

Monday, January 9, 2012

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is announcing that as of January 9, attorneys representing incarcerated offenders will be able to visit with their clients via Internet Video link.

The Sheriff’s Office has contracted with Eyconix, the country’s largest provider of this type of video visitation services. The Eyconix system is currently being utilized in four states with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office being the first in this state to utilize this technology.

Attorneys who register for the service will be able to visit clients at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center from home, office or anywhere in the world via Internet. There is a fee for the service which attorneys will pay either monthly or annually directly to the vendor. This new technology comes at no cost to the taxpayer. The system will not replace face-to-face visits, which will continue to be available.

The service will provide greater access, convenience and improve efficiency for client attorney communication while providing the facility greater security.  Attorney video visitation will be allowed seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

This system is separate from the on-site video visitation system used by friends and family of incarcerated offenders located at the LPSO Community Corrections Campus located at 100 Poydras in Lafayette.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing innovative and proven technologically based solutions and services that improve the efficiency of the criminal justice system and enhance the community’s security.

Attorneys interested in setting up an account should go to log on to:
