Hummingbird Lane Murder arrest

On August 26, 2012 at 4:26 AM Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 100 block of Hummingbird Lane concerning a reported shooting.  Deputies assigned to the investigation have established that Clement Amos 33-years-old from Lafayette was fatally shot while responding to neighbor’s call of a possible prowler. 

A sketch was released by investigators along with a physical description on September 11, 2012.

Today Investigators with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office have made an arrest of the person responsible for the shooting death of Amos. 

Corlious Dyson 28 of Opelousas is in the custody of sheriff’s deputies awaiting charges of second degree murder.  Dyson was captured in Vermillion Parish with the assistance of the Abbeville Police.  Investigators continue to believe that Amos was not the intended target of this crime.
