Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Inmate Industries Managers Complete NIC

Congratulations to Lt. Jared Yashar, and Sgt. Rex Angelle of the Lafayette parish Sheriff’s Office LAPCORR Industries, who recently completed the Correctional Industries Directors Training

Seminar held at the National Corrections Academy in Denver, CO. The training was hosted by the National Institute of Corrections.

The training provides dynamic and effective leadership stills critical to the success of an Inmate Industries operation. Correctional Inmate Industries administrators learn, skills and abilities needed to identify relevant organizational priorities, establish strategic objectives, identify measurable goals and objectives, establish collaborative partnerships, utilize current labor market information, and provide specialized programming that help teach offenders’ a variety of skills needed to succeed.


LAPCORR Industries provides valuable job experience to many Lafayette Parish Correctional Center Offenders, offering a simulating  “real-world” work environment helping them build skills useful upon re-entry into society.  LAPCORR manages Inmate Work Crews that provide low cost green area maintenance, labor, and cleaning up services to Lafayette Consolidated Government and other municipalities in the Parish. It also manufactures and markets a variety of products including trash bags, corrugated boxes and institutional bedding to qualified buyers such as government agencies, schools and non-profits. LAPCORR industries is located on Grissom Drive near the Lafayette Regional Airport and is one of the LPSO programs that will relocate to the new 29-acre LPSO Public Safety Complex on Willow Street once it is complete.
