Paula Smith Awarded Challenge Coin Award

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office proudly announces that Paula Smith, Corrections Division Budget Manager, has been selected as the latest winner of the Challenge Coin Award. This award recognizes Corrections employees who, through their work ethic and actions, personify the attributes of leadership, creativity, honor and innovation. The award is unique in that every new winner is selected by the current winner, making it truly a peer-to-peer award.

Paula was nominated by Sergeant Samantha Hayes the prior winner. In her nomination letter, Sergeant Hayes wrote, “Despite her considerable workload she is never too busy to help anyone or answer any questions. As a matter of fact, her reputation as the go-to-person is well known throughout the division; if there is ever a question that no one else knows the answer to the default answer is “call Mrs. Paula.” Her actions speak for her commitment to the organization as a whole and exemplify the values of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, courtesy, professionalism and respect.”

The Challenge Coin Award process now stipulates that Paula identify and nominate the next award winner. Congratulations Paula on being recognized for a job well done!
