Margaret Smith Receives Monthly Challenge Coin Award

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office proudly announces that Margaret Smith, a Mental Health Professional in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, has been selected as the current winner of the Challenge Coin Award. This award recognizes Corrections employees who, through their work ethic and actions, personify the attributes of leadership, creativity, honor, and innovation. The award is unique in that every new winner is selected by the current winner, making it truly a peer-to-peer award.
Ms. Smith was nominated by the previous winner, Deputy Stacy Provost. In Deputy Provost’s nomination letter, she wrote, “Margaret Smith is a positive team player. She upholds her oath by continuing to work with integrity. She diligently and respectfully handles each offender with care and understanding. I’ve observed Mrs. Smith interacting with offenders in an ethical manner. Mrs. Smith truly cares about helping the offenders improve their quality of life. Mrs. Margaret Smith deserves this challenge coin, and I’m honored to pass this recognition along to her.”
The Challenge Coin Award process now stipulates that Margaret identify and nominate the next award winner. Congratulations to Ms. Margaret Smith recognized for a job well done!
