“ Dear Sheriff Neustrom, During this season of giving, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude far two members of the Lafayette Parish Sheriffs Staff. This is long overdue, but a great pleasure for me to write to you. At the beginning of the school year the St. Pius Elementary School Community learned of the diagnosis of one of our faculty members, Mary Moresi with stage-four cancer. Her Jason and family live in the Broussard area. It was unexpected and was a difficult time for the family and school community. On Sunday September 9, 2012, Jason was set to bring Mary home with the help of Hospice. He asked that our school community surround their home and pray the rosary for Mary and the family. Our school community is very rooted in faith and I felt certain many would want to be there. I was concerned about safety and parking so I called Officer Art Marullo who directed me to Officer Tony Ashy who was on duty that day. I cannot adequately express my gratitude for the assistance we received. Officer Ashy was extremely helpful. He came by to check on us. We felt supported by your staff. Thank you and your staff for all that you do to keep our community, especially our children safe. I pray for the safety of your staff and extend our best wishes for this special season. Donna M. Lemaire Principal ”
